  5. Describe the perioperative practices for ensuring standard and transmission-based precautions. <\/li>
  6. Recognize the impact of perioperative waste and identify opportunities to reduce waste and cost. <\/li>
  7. Identify ways that the circulating nurse can plan, organize, and prioritize to reduce waste while meeting the needs of the patient. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Introduction <\/h5>\n\n\n\n

    This module includes a brief overview of common microorganisms that must be accounted for in the Operating Room environment. Standard transmission-based precautions and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the operating room are also covered. Specific standards are highlighted to reduce the opportunities for transmission in the OR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
