A follow-up on surgical care safety is that as of July 26, 2018, 92% of surgical care safety actions are complete or in progress. The Leads Group and partners will transition ongoing work into TeamSTEPPS and Enhanced Recovery Canada. More specifically, partners with CPSI will:
- Participate in and provide secretariat support to the Enhanced Recovery Canada governance committee, clinical pathway and patient and family engagement working groups to implement a Safety Improvement Project in FY 2019-20.
- Lead a communication plan for the distribution of a common set of national surgical safety indicators.
- Advance lessons learned from research into teamwork and communication in the OR settings into TeamSTEPPS training.
- Continue to support strong patient engagement in surgical care by housing carefully selected tools via CFHI’s Patient Engagement Resource Hub.
